Discussions with BJP leaders focus on women’s rights, child protection, human rights awareness, and educational opportunities for underprivileged children across India
New Delhi [India], July 27: In a significant outreach aimed at strengthening human rights initiatives across the country, Mr. Avijit Roy, National Director of the HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL OF INDIA (HRCI), recently held a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi with senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The discussions centred on promoting human rights awareness, safeguarding the rights of women and children, and expanding educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
During his visit, Mr. Roy met Mr. M. Akram, National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha; Shree Rajkumar Chahar, Member of Parliament from Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh, and BJP National President of the Kisan Morcha; and Shree Santosh Ojha, BJP State President of the Purwanchal Morcha.
The meetings were described as constructive and forward-looking, with all participants exchanging views on strengthening cooperation between public representatives and civil society organisations to advance social welfare and the protection of constitutional rights.
A major focus of the discussions was the need to enhance public awareness of human rights and to ensure that constitutional guarantees are effectively understood and accessible to citizens across urban and rural India. The participants discussed the importance of community outreach, legal awareness programmes, educational campaigns, and collaborative initiatives that encourage citizens to understand their rights and responsibilities.
Women’s rights emerged as one of the key themes of the meetings. The leaders deliberated on the importance of ensuring dignity, equality, and safety for women through greater public awareness, educational initiatives, and stronger community engagement. The discussions also explored ways to encourage social participation and support mechanisms that contribute to women’s empowerment.
Child welfare and child rights formed another important area of discussion. The participants emphasised the importance of protecting children from exploitation, ensuring their access to education, and creating a safe environment that enables every child to realise their full potential. The need for sustained awareness regarding child rights and community participation in safeguarding children was also highlighted.
Education for underprivileged children featured prominently during the deliberations. Mr. Roy emphasised that quality education remains one of the strongest instruments for social transformation and inclusive development. The discussions included possibilities for promoting educational support programmes, awareness campaigns, mentorship initiatives, and community-driven efforts to encourage school enrolment and reduce educational disparities.

Speaking after the meetings, Mr. Avijit Roy said that meaningful progress in the field of human rights requires collective commitment and active cooperation from every section of society.
“Human rights are not merely legal principles; they are fundamental values that uphold the dignity, equality, and freedom of every individual. Our discussions focused on working together to strengthen awareness, protect women’s and children’s rights, and ensure that education reaches every underprivileged child. He further stated that the HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL OF INDIA remains committed to promoting constitutional values through awareness programmes, educational initiatives, legal literacy campaigns, and community engagement.
